Last week our latest work experience candidate, Caitlin, left us after two weeks. Not only did she leave us a lovely box of chocolates (thank you!!) but a blog post as well.
“Part of my sports and exercise science course was to see what it is like to work in a sports related environment. I chose Experience the Country because they offer a variety of different activities and it fits in very well with my course. Throughout my time here I have been asked to help with a number of jobs which involve accounting, marketing, hospitality, setting up for a couple of events, etc. One of the jobs I was given was to edit a video of an event that took place. Video editing is a massive hobby of mine so I was extremely excited.
I have enjoyed working at a computer as well as setting up for events because it has given me the chance to experience two different ways of working. I have also had the chance to go out on the segways which was the highlight of my time here, I had never gone on a segway before and the views along the way made the experience ten times better. I also had the opportunity to go out on the off road course with Mark which was scary at first but in the end it was incredible to see what a Land Rover could do. Towards the end of the course I was told that I could take over and have a go at driving the vehicle myself. I had never driven a car before so I was a little sceptical at first but once I was taught how to do it, it was fun! I never knew there was so much to driving.
I had the pleasure of working with a lovely team who showed me how to deal with invoices, advertise for the business and show me how to organise a big event. It was very interesting to see what it takes to run a successful business and the effort that goes into it.
Doing this work experience has helped me come out of my shell and become a lot more confident”
Good luck with your studies Caitlin, we hope to see you again soon.
